Formerly a classically-trained musician, I studied archives & records management at Glasgow University with a self-defined focus on performing arts records. My on-going, primary research interest is the sociocultural history of classical music reproduction (recording & radio) in the early days, viz. 1900s-1940s(-ish) or simply pre-WWII (more on my carrd.co page).
In this blog I will journal (or reminisce about) my work on numerous ongoing, future, and past projects listed here – a range of archives and museum work involving music, sound recording, and history & culture of different regions. In-between project updates and retrospectives, I may also share about the inspirations – anecdotal or monumental – that nudged me into the path I’m pursuing right now. Warning: excessive mentions of Stokowski and Aberdeen (Scotland) in the forecast.
